The die is cast etc etc
This morning I handed my notice in at work. In three and a half months' time I will be out of the door. After three years of a law degree, a year at law school, two years as a trainee and four and half (long) years as a solicitor, I am saying goodbye. What comes next is anybody's guess.
This is a big day. I can't much enjoy it because I have so much work to do. But hurrah nevertheless.

Came here from Simon's 'Small Values of Cool' blog.
I have to ask, is 3 1/2 months notice normal in the UK? Here in the US, especially in IT, it's two weeks and don't be surprised if you're marched out the door that day to prevent you from wreaking havoc on the company's computers.

Three months is a standard notice period for a lawyer who is not a partner. In IT it's more like a month. I've given then the extra couple of weeks to help them out and because I have no time pressures. ;-)
No marching of the premises either, unless there is some particular commercial sensitivity going on.
And hello, by the way. :-)
